Well see something different every day. Started to refurbish a nice little 3 hp Johnson, but when I went to take off the carburetor i found that the studs that hold it on are not original but rather some threaded rod has been used in their place.

Wondering if it will work, or if over time it might allow the carburetor to work loose from the manifold?

Not sure if there is a good way to secure them, they do protrude out of the back of the holes and likely can get a nut just not sure how much luck i will have tightening them down?

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

      Bill

Blue (Screwlock) Locktite is what you want. Just a drop or two in the stud where it screws into the manifold will both hold it and seal it.
