I know this has been discussed before but I didn’t save the post and a search came up empty.
I am working on a 1926 A25 Johnson and want to know what to do about the " Anti Backfire Screens " in the cylinders. I seem to recall that it is best to leave them out. However they are in there for a reason, so what is the answer. The ones I removed were aluminum? but appear to be in excellent condition. I do have some in my parts stock that are copper, also in excellent condition. Should I use either type or just forget it and leave them out? 😕

The reason most remove them is the potential damage from one
coming loose is far greater than what can be caused by a backfire
as well as a backfire might cause one to become loose.
