    I picked up a Johnson model MJWF22C with the case and was wondering how to change the spark plug it looks like I have to take the whole thing apart to get to it.is there an easy way to change it? Thank for your timeSANY0003

      Just remove those 4 flat head screws below the white band, under the tank….that will let you take off the lower cowl… Nice motor

        1967 Johnson JW-22 3 hp Outboard Motor Parts

        maybe… M means military ??? grade ??? somebody knows !   the above link for a JW22 had a FOLDING model listed

        looks pretty much like the folding JW    pull the flywheel  check coils for major cracks, clean contacts  change condensers  and gear oil

        2-3 drop of oil of the felt pad rubbing the  crankshaft !    Check fuel filter inside fuel tank and  check closely in the fuel cap for  holes for proper venting..

        carb likely needs a clean-up to

        should last another 50 years  GREAT kickers  for trolling  and NOT ROWING 🙂

          Is there a screw in the carrying handle that must come out also in order to split the lower cover apart??

            And yes indeed, this is a nice motor….  Please be very careful with the case, they are delicate and will break/crack easily, especially with age.  You must be very careful about how you pick it up/set it down as well.  That little tip at the bottom of the gearcase skeg can be very delicate, very easy to snap it off.  Once that piece gets snapped off, the gearcase will no longer clamp in the folded position….

                see parts diagram link provided  it  shows a bolt to split the handle if you have to.

                these small kicker can get real hot is a tub because  if they run fast and  they whip cream the water the  aerated water  does not cool them to well.

                pulled the FW yet to check coils and all electricals ?
