I bought a 1923 Elto today and received a Johnson PO 15 with it for free.. I am trying to find out what year it was made. Serial number is 375085. It needs some work and I am wondering if anyone has a repair manual/operators manual via pdf file.
      Thanks, Robert

I could be wrong on this, but that serial number would make it a 1940 model and the 1940 model was a PO-10. The PO-15 started production in 1941. Great deal to get this one for free along with the Ruddertwin,.

It says PO 15 on the top where where you wind the rope under model number. I found a site that dated the PO 15 1940-1949. Could not find exact date.

I think the PO10 didn’t have the spark plug covers.

This site shows 1940 as Bob said.

I looked at the Old Outboard Handbook which lists the 1940 year serial numbers 355,972 thru 397,900 and your serial number falls within that range. The same book shows the 1940 motor as a PO-10 and the PO-15 model starting in 1941. This serial number listing has been proven wrong before or it could be the model number listing is wrong and the PO-15 started production in 1940. If yours is clearly labeled a PO-15 (and it sure appears to be one) it’s either a 1940 or 1941 model.
