I got this from a friends father who recently passed away who said it was running a few years ago would like to get it going. I still need the fuel ratio and would like to know the type of sparkplugs and the gaps for them. Basically any information to get it going.

      The model # and serial.

Recoil starter is missing, but I guess you already know that.

That is a West bend/Chrysler. 50:1 fuel mix. Plugs should be champion L82C. It would be a good idea to change the impeller while you’re in there.

Your Viking was made by Chrysler’s Marine Devision. They also made Wards Sea King . . . 😎

memories… my first motor purchased when I started working……at 17

head gasket leaked always had problems with it 2 years later Eaton’s took it back when they allowed me to upgrade to…a nice 9.8 Mercury

Customer satisfaction was their religion back then …..but years later…… they bombed out just like my Viking

My Merc kept going and going and going like the rabbit 😀

I have redone the seals on the cylinder heads, the fuel pump and the carburator gasket after cleaning. The motor starts and runs, but when I try and shift the motor shuts off, or if I lower the speed it shuts off. I believe the spark plugs need changing because the fuel does not completely combust.
