Before I go nuts trying to look through some service bulletins, am wondering if anyone knows the part number for this kit.

October 27, 2026 at 1:00 pm #330595This is for someone else. Center bushing wear is very common on these engines due to small surface/contact area between the mag plate brass busing and the crankcase pilot bushing. I have advised him that a new(er) mag plate along with a replacement plastic bushing (322435) might just do the trick.
I really want to find these part numbers for my own reference as well, but can’t imagine there are many of these kits floating around. Find one and you will pay up for it.
October 27, 2026 at 2:01 pm #330596did you/he try marineengine.com post the mdl # and serch individual parts needed ?

October 27, 2026 at 3:03 pm #330601I would, but the repair kits are not mentioned in the parts list for the engines. Will try using “key words” for the search…
October 27, 2026 at 10:51 pm #330611What I have been doing to correct this issue is to replace the mag locating ring and hold down from a CDI ignition engine, and it will tighten it right up!
I have found that the problem is not the center of the Mag Rather it is the nylon locating ring that wears out

October 28, 2026 at 1:09 pm #330630I am confused Ben. I would agree that that damn plastic bushing is a weak link indeed. No one lubes them properly, and they should be considered a “wear item” and replaced every so often.
The engine in question here is a 74-76 9.9-15 model with everyone’s favorite low tension ignition. I am not working on this engine, just trying to help a nice youtube guy out west…
Nonetheless, I am interested in knowing just what parts you replace using “CD2” components. I am assuming that you are not talking about converting a low tension model to a CD2 ignition system
Thanks Ben

classicomctools@gmail.comOctober 28, 2026 at 2:50 pm #330637Hi Dan yes I understand that that’s the motoring question is the 74 through 76 low tension and I have run into more than my fair share of those mag plates that are super loose and sloppy and won’t keep time and I have been able to repair every one of them without converting to electronic ignition by just replacing two parts from a newer motor

I will try to do a YouTube video on the subject in the near future. I do have a couple powerheads. I need to replace soon, but I have had 100% success doing this
October 28, 2026 at 5:24 pm #330638If it will help, I have a salvaged mag plate that you can have for free,, just shipping unless that you can pick up.
PM me if you want
