I finally did what I should have done immediately: Went on ebay and bought factory service manuals for my two big motor projects. (A V4 and a 60 hp three cylinder). These seem to cost around $15 +/-. As far as I know Johnson or Evinrude manuals are equivalent *unless* you are dealing with electric shift controls, in which case the control boxes are quite different. Do I have this straight?
These are better than aftermarket manuals, but, like all manuals, aren’t perfect. For instance, the 60 hp manual doesn’t show the pinouts (physical location of the pins) of the round plugs connecting the motor to the control harness. I wonder why.
