    last question…. what is the part # for the small (slim) twist lock connector (hose end – engine side. ) the newer ones on amazon are to big

    I’ve got a 4.5 hp, 1979. Spark happens at points closing. Mine grounds the ignition module’s output for kill instead of the module’s input from coil. Has a low and high speed exciter coil that feeds the module.

    Yours might or might not have the same ign system though…that serial number might be mag..

    Yes I think it is a mag because the spark plug coil is not the external bolt one square with rounded top. the plug wire comes from under the FW like an OMC mag

    I have a another identical short shaft and it is magneto style with one point like… a 3.9 I also have also.

    I have a feeling it will be a good runner ….waiting for winter doldrums to open it up.
