One often overlooked reason to leave your old 5.5 or 7.5 Johnrude as a pressure feed motor is that you’ll never accidentally mix up your tanks and accidentally run your plain bearing motor on a 50:1 mix!

Scott, That is one of the reasons I am thinking of returning my 58 Fleetwin back to a pressure tank.

          I mix all my oldies at 24/1 with tcw3 or ….XD-100 😯

Yep, I mix mine at 16:1 that go with pressure tanks. Even the Big Twins. Primarily, because my motors sit for quite some time between runnings. The added lubrication is beneficial.

The last ’50s Fleetwin was built in 1958.

They went to all fuel pump motors in 1959 . . . 🙁

I can understand why you like your Elgin. I think the West Bend products were very well done. Is your motor a 1955?

My research says it’s a 57 or 58, because of the red and black instead of the green.
