I have a 16 hp Model 16A39 and have question about two 10-32 screws in the lower unit, what are they for. They don’t seem to be vent holes for lower unit grease. Screw # 3 and the one above it in photo.

I have a Neptune 10A16, a 1940 model Master Twin. Just checked it because I didn’t recall those screws. Mine has neither #3 or the one above it.

Maybe I am way off, but I had one of these motors about 30 years ago. I seem to remember a bushing supporting the drive shaft in there somewhere. Possibly a screw to retain the bushing? My dad gave the motor away, thinking I didn’t want it.
