Thanks Wayne…….you made my day! I know it will be tight, but I will give it a go and hopefully report back with positive results.
Thanks again

May 17, 2023 at 7:12 pm #276313In making up this new coil setup using two standard OMC coils, I’m wondering how to connect the wiring of the two coils.
Do I connect then in parallel?
Any help and even a diagram, if possible, would be much appreciated.

I’m not very good at understanding diagrams
so I’m not very good at making them. Hope
you can make some sense out of this.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
May 19, 2023 at 12:55 am #276333Thanks very much Tubs for your reply………your pictures and sketch are most helpful.
One question I have though, is that your diagram shows the two coils mounted on the one laminated iron core, (both facing the same way like you instructed) whereas I’m hoping to use, two standard OMC coils with the laminations that they all come with.
What I’m wondering is, do the laminations of the two coils, need to be connected in some way, to form the same setup (one piece iron core), as your drawing shows?
Thanks again for your help!

I don’t know the answer.
My guess would be that they need to be connected.

May 26, 2023 at 7:40 am #276466Hi Tubs and Wayne. I got it all together tonight and it works! It was a snug fit getting it all into the tube and as the condenser is already mounted inside the timer on my motor there was no need to fit one in or on the coil case. All I have to do now is paint the unit and fit the spark plug connectors to the HT leads.
I ended up bolting the two coil laminations together with 1/8 inch nuts bolts and spring washers which made the unit rigid and easy to handle. I will try and post some photos in the next day or so.
Thanks very much once again for your help.

May 27, 2023 at 8:49 am #276481Monte, that’s pretty ingenious how you sandwiched those two
coils together like that. What did you use to house them in?Prepare to be boarded!

Interesting that the coils seem to
work facing back to back.
