      Thanks Jeff for your helpful post……….applying heat on the top to avoid too much heat getting into the coil is the way to go.

        I love the old Elto Ruddertwins. They always drew a crowd, when we had one running at the Hutchwilco Boat Show here in Auckland a few years back and it was priceless  seeing the expressions on the ladies faces when we let them try to start it and the motor would invariably start on the first flick……..quite memorable!

        The reason I persevered with my idea of bolting two standard coils together, was that invariably members and others have a few in their spare parts and it was an easy way of getting  an Elto running again. I would imagine that in Canada and the USA it would be cheaper to buy a coil such as Big Rich is offering.
