I have always used the BRP/OEM coils with no problem but thought I would try the Zhongfadz coils on my current QD-20 restoration job to save a few bucks. I took a quick look at them earlier today and it looks like the fitment will be OK, which I’ve heard could be problematic in some installations. I have a BRP points/condenser kit on order and I’ll be anxious to see what kind of spark the Chinese coils will produce.

I haven’t had any spark issues. I put two of the Chinese coils under the flywheel of my 1949 Johnson PO15 20 hp. That flywheel doesn’t turn too fast when rope starting, yet it fires right up.
