I was fortunate enough to pick up 7 antique motors from one of our members in Ohio, and have a question as I’m looking at my “projects”.  What color and type of spray paint does everyone use on cylinders/power heads, and lower units?  The only painting that I’ve done was a fuel tank on a British Seagull, and I used black(obviously) lacquer and lacquer clear.

      Thanks!

There’s a couple of people that sell paint for outboards in the original colors, but
I don’t know it’s temperature rating for power heads. 90% of my projects were painted
silver, and I used the Duplicolor Engine enamel. It’s rated for 500 degrees.
The have a lot of other colors as well, but none are a perfect match to original colors.

        Prepare to be boarded!

Thank you.  I will be using original colors from Vintage Outboard Paint on the painted engines, and will use Duplicolor on the othes.
