I’ve thought that a Scout is the same as a Pal with cowls added below the flywheel and tank. My question is……
Are all the tanks the same? OR do some of the Scouts have the gas filler moved closer to the flywheel sort of like a Cub? Or do ALL the Scouts have the forward positioned gas filler?February 2, 2017 at 7:07 am #52278The Scout was a one year motor that morphed into the Ranger – The pal was always a Pal. . . 😀
February 2, 2017 at 4:29 pm #52298Both early Pals as well as the early Scouts had
the filler placed at the front of the tank.February 2, 2017 at 4:34 pm #52301You the winner or the looser?
February 2, 2017 at 6:08 pm #52309From the motors I’ve seen that "look" to still be original
the forward gas cap was use on both motors passing
Serial# 1000 by maybe a few hundred. This not to
say that you wont find the later tanks on the early motors
or visa versa because parts do get moved around.
There were actually 3 variations in the Pal gas tank
in the 5 years of production.

What are the serial numbers
on both your motors?February 3, 2017 at 11:40 am #52334The original one is 4201-01253 and the restored one is 4201-01555 , the thumb screw on the original one is different than most I’ve seen maybe it’s been replaced along line? Not sure if it was original to the motor? 😉
