      Yes even Mercury 6 cylinder direct reversing  motors have the same part & they include a points spring tentioner to adjust spring pull on the points to save the rubbing block on the points & lube the felt pad. I got my huge felt pads from rebuilding surgery tables, long story! Even sent some to Frank.R

          Thanks for all the helpful replies. I was sweeping up my shop the other day and guess what I found? Clip and pad now install as per instructions.
