Can anyone advise what the exhaust system is on this POLR-15? I am interested aquiring 2 project motors, one is a POL-15 serial 434453, 1941, the other a POLR-15 468797, possibly 1943.

The POLR (Long, Reversing) could be spun 180 degrees to go in reverse so the exhaust tube to the gearcase was eliminated and the exhaust fumes dumped straight out of the muffler can into the atmosphere. I think it was through a screen on the rear where a cover is installed on your motor but???

OK, so that makes the top pic a POL. The other ’43 POLR I had was the green version, so wasn’t aware therewas non-reversing model. Thanks

On your POL model you will definitely want to take apart and free up the exhaust relief valve located on the side of the exhaust tube. It must function well for starting and running at low speeds. Typical for them to be stuck from sitting for long periods in storage.
