The carb on the QD 11 has a hose, called the "carburetor manifold hose." It’s plugged at the end…. with the "carburetor manifold plug," of course. What does this hose do?

        DAVID,

I do not have your answer, but the Johnson Service manual calls it a Leaf Valve Silencer Tube.

        Someone will know.

if you need the whole book….but as illustrated it does not describe the hose much…

It is supposed to make it idle more quietly. Replaced on later models with an air intake silencer.

I get the same effect by just shutting off my hearing aid . . . . 😀
