      I have a book for the 1957 model (QD-18) and it says 3/4 out for high speed and 2 full turns out for low speed. Would that be the same for the 1953 model? I know the carbs are a bit different.

        Scott,
        For the early QDs the high speed can start at about 3/4 turn out. I usually start with the low speed about 1 turn out and they seem to end up between 3/4 and 1/2 turn out. Try that and see how it works.
