      Hi,

On this particular motor, there is a part (kind of like a washer) covering the propshaft seal, between propshaft seal and propeller. I haven’t seen these on other motors I’ve worked on. It doesn’t want to come off easily.

Is this part pressed in, or threaded? I need to replace the seal but don’t want to damage anything. Thanks for advice on how to remove this 🙂

Yes, some of the prop shaft bushing/seal housings do have that protective washer shield there to help keep fishline/grass out of the prop shaft seal.  You should be able to pry that off there to acess the seal.  Once the new seal is in place, press the washer back in place over the seal.  Make sure it is still a tight fit so the washer does not come dislodged.
