      The recoil on the 1968 3 hp evinrude I just got running has come apart in a very bad way. It’s off the motor now and in pieces. Can anyone point me to any videos on putting this back together correctly and having it work right? Looks like a PITA. Thanks.

        Aw come on, they aren’t hard. Easier if you have the special tool, but doable without it.

        EDIT: common error–there is a flat washer between the cup and pulley. Leave it out and it won’t work.

          Yeah, they are actually pretty EASY if you read the directions. Pretty darn slick, really.

            The directions look fairly easy. Ordering a new spring and will give it a go! Thanks frankr and billw
