Trying to get my 1936 Johnson model 100 with a model J carburetor running again. After carefully cleaning all of the carburetor parts, I am now ready to reassemble but first I would like to reseal the cork float real good prior to assembly. Any tips or suggestions and sources for a product that will reseal the cork floats and not break down with today’s fuels and lubricants? Thank you for the opportunity to ask questions and interact with others of like interests.

sanding cleaning then fuel proof airplane  dope for hobbyst is the usual remedy  it seems

I have used  “gel type” and lquid  crazy glue* with  small brush..it seemed to work but I have not  openned up a carb fixed this way.    Did crazy glue hold up.. hard to say

*KEEP VAPORS AWAY FROM YOUR EYES AND LUNGS….BE WARNED !!!

butyrate  is also used in clear finger nail polish  which you could try but  read the fine print on the bottle

you always try to  shape a new  one out of cork then seal  it

If you use ethanol free gas,you can just sand it lightly and add a coat of shellac.

“Tubs”AKA “The Boat House”,Is doing a long term experiment on whether cork floats even need to be coated. The assumption has been that the coating was necessary to prevent absorption of fuel. His experiment suggests it is not.
