I have an Elto Rudder Twin that does not have a ID played on it. I thought this unusual till I’ve noticed two or three other units for sale without the ID plate on those as well. I also noticed one that had a black background instead of the blue background traditional alto coloring. Can anyone help me explain these situations? I’m a newbie to this model.

The ID plate was installed on each and every motor ever built, so if they’re missing, its because they’ve been purposely removed for whatever reason.

WRT the background colour, the earlier Elto’s had a black background. Later it was changed to a blue background, I think in 1924.

        Hope this helps,

He's livin' in his own private Idaho..... I hope to go out quietly in my sleep, like my grand-dad did..... and not screaming, like the passengers in his car...

You should be able to see the holes from the fasteners where the tag was attached.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I believe you will not find any holes, as the plates were soldered on. Apparently some plates not too securely soldered ,thus the missing ID plates.

I haven’t had a lot of these but the ones I’m familiar with did have fasteners holding them on. A couple have fallen out on this one.

Thanks Everyone for the helpful information! My motor does have the holes for the ID if there used to be one on there. I just thought curious as to why I’ve seen so many missing as well as the colors. You guys are the best!
