      Hello,
I just finished restoring my newest project and wanted to share some photos. It is a 1946 Evinrude Sportsman 2hp. A friend gave me this motor which had been sitting in a barn for many years. I totally disassembled, inspected and cleaned every part of this motor to ensure it would run good. I replaced some gaskets and cleaned out the bugs that had moved in during storage. New decals topped everything off. I put it in my test barrel, crossed my finger and said a little prayer. This little motor started on the second pull and after some smoke and sputter, it idled right down. Evinrude did well with this one. I plan on using this on a little rowboat soon.

        Nice job!
One of the joys of this hobby is taking a motor that has been neglected and silent sometimes for decades and bringing it back to life to be enjoyed again.

Beautiful! Did you polish the bare metal? It doesn’t look painted.

Looks awesome! Just be careful when you’re out on the lake,
as it may take you back in time with no return!

            Prepare to be boarded!
