      I have worked on a few 1955 Johnson RD-17 25 hp motors.
Of course the RD-17 s had a double line pressure fuel system.
There is barb on the intake manifold for that pressure.
The 1956 25 hp Sea King has a threaded hole for that barb but no there is no barb. Also the hole is not blocked. I believe I can see the reed plate through this hole. The parts list for the 1956 25 hp Sea King does not show a barb or a plug. I will be running the original single line fuel system.
Should I cap off this hole?

looks like your air pressure out to pressurize the 2 line tank… if you have converted to pump with a newer bypass cover

then yes the hole should be plugged (no longer needed) and would needlessly reduce air pressure in the crankcase used to get the juices pushed out the purge valve next to it.

maybe it is plugged from the back side of the plate if so do not worry about it

I believe it is plugged from the inside by a un-drilled reed plate and/or different gaskets.

i don’t think that hole goes all the way thru as I’ve noticed on several fuel pump models they used the same manifolds as the pressure tank models did but the manifold casting wasn’t finish machined for the air passageway. Plugging it though wouldn’t hurt for peace of mind.
