I’m refurbishing an early 50’s vintage 4 gallon OMC CRUIS-A-DAY fuel pressure tank. Lost one of the miniature snap rings that goes on the pin that holds the gas gauge float assembly. Pic of this pin is shown here. Anyone have a source for these miniature snap rings or a good alternative method of securing this pin in place? TIA!

you can always wrap & twist some small diam. copper or SS wire in the groove which should work as long as it does not interfere with the function

Home Depot or Manards is also a possibility but you’ll likely have to order it. Where I’m at, Home Depot will ship much of what the sell for free.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
February 8, 2026 at 10:40 am #304432If you can measure the approximate diameter of the groove and diameter of the pin, I do have a large metric assortment that will probably have clips that will work. I would be glad to mail a couple of a few sizes for you to try. With the mail service being slow, it may take awhile. I don’t know what kind of rush you are in.

February 8, 2026 at 5:29 pm #304444Thanks all for your help and suggestions. Needed to wrap up this phase of the project today so did exactly what JACQUES suggested above. Twisted a small diameter copper wire tightly into the clip groove. Since there’s virtually no lateral tension or pressure on this pin, this alternative “fix” should last for years. Tank is now reassembled and soon as I get the fuel/air connector rebuilt with new springs & o-rings, it should be good to go. Then on to getting the little Evinrude 7518 running again.
