Can anyone suggest New England lakes (or rivers) that make for nice boat camping?

I grew up camping on the northern Lake George Islands (Agnes, Vicars, Waltonian).
Went back to Waltonian a few years ago in my little tinnie, but looking for places closer to Boston!

      Thanks!

Would be very cool to find a place like this and have a Yankee on water meet there!

I once tent-camped a lot and took my boat. There is a place in the Sturbridge/Brimfield area of Massachusetts that I used to like. If you have a small boat and motor, this place is great. There are a number of interconnecting bodies of water to explore. The showers were not the best; but that was almost twenty years ago. Things may be better. It is close to Sturbridge Village and the Brimfield antique show, local restaurants, etc. Here is the link:

Lake St. Catherine in Vermont has a state park and a place to put in a boat. Nice lake. Run my old Mercs there frequently.
