Hello All,
***I posted this on the AOMCI Facebook page but I wanted to share it with you all.***Let me introduce you to the winner of the ugliest outboard competition. It is a 1960’s Neptune Mighty Mite. This motor has the distinction of sitting underwater for about a month. Everything was full of silt and had to be removed. I am talking the carb, crankcase and even some in the cylinder. After a lot of cleaning and recleaning, I finally got this one running. I had to replace some packing material to make the water pump work but now this is a great running little motor. From wide open to barely turning over. I chose to do my favorite Tonka paint scheme in Sunburst yellow and gloss black. Now that this project is finished this motor is up for sale. I like this paint job because not only do people get a kick out of it but it makes some collectors heads explode. Then comes the lectures about what I should of done with a motor they don’t own. I don’t color within the lines guys. This motor was destined for the garbage pile and I rescued it. Doing this kind of work gives a person a chance to own a nice running outboard for the price of a Starbucks Latte (Just Kidding) There is a lot of people who cannot afford a new outboard so I give them the $75 solution.

September 22, 2020 at 5:42 am #217043I tend towards purist/original but hey, it looks better than it did. It’s not a Waterman or something; it’s a Mighty mite. And it’s the same color as my Ranger. “I got sunshine, on a cloudy day….” Looks good to me!
Long live American manufacturing!

September 22, 2020 at 1:25 pm #217088I have been known to color outside the lines as well. Nice job!

September 22, 2020 at 8:43 pm #217127I like it also. It’s a unique and unusual paint job. You saved it from the scrap yard and it’ll get more attention with that paint job than if you’d painted it the original color. Great job!
It's a jungle out there.
