Good call Greg,   Was going to suggest most lawnmower shops should be able to supply one ?

I looked in Machinery’s Handbook, and found tons of stuff, but brass
fittings wasn’t one of them.
It’s closer to 1/4″ pipe thread, but that has a different tpi, and is slightly
larger OD than what came out of the carb.
Good to know they come with kits if necessary, but I’d be happier
coming up with a better way to make my own on the lathe.

For a  taper that short you should be able to use the compound and not worry about a taper attachment.

Don’t know if it would help, but British Standard Pipe (also the metric standard) compares with USS like this for “1/4” sizes:

TPI  US:18, BSP: 19

Major diameter US: .540, BSP:  .518  (Not sure the diameter was measured the same way.)  The thread form is also different, BSP using a Whitworth-like form.

Other equivalent sizes have similar differences.

I did turn the initial taper with the compound, but threading with it might be tricky!
I suppose those carb fittings may have some kind of Brit thread, or metric perhaps.
