      Gentlemen and ladies,
I’ve figured out how to replace the impeller on my Johnson TN27 5 hp. Now I cannot get the neutral shift cable to feed back through the tube and up to the engine. I can get it all the way to a hole that receives a 1/8″ copper sleeve guide that takes it to the hold down clamp. I removed that tube and still cannot get it to go. I used lubricant, I carefully rounded the end of the cable. it will not go. Any tricks on this.
      Thanks
      Mike

It should go after removing the short tube. Try bending the end of the cable a bit (or straighten it, whichever makes sense)

Don’t worry, if Frank suggests something, his advice is worth listening to!

              Frank,
You were right about the bend. I put a slight angle in the last 3/4″ of the cable. Then with a needle nose at the lower end I put a little pressure and a slight twist and it came out the top. Thanks for the good advice.

Frank, I got the TN27 running. It starts right up but now the carb drips fuel and I cannot figure out how to stop it. I removed the carb and removed the top cap from the carb. I poured fuel in, the float came up and fuel stopped flowing.. The check valve is clean and functioning, but fuel still drips out of the weep hole on the underside of the carb.

Thanks for all of your help on the neutral cable
