You’ll have better luck if you supply a model number as I’m sure
they made the Handitwin more than one year and had changes.
A photo of the motor is worth a 1000 words also.
Finally, if you have not already, post an ad in the free classified.

Hi, my 1936 elto handitwin got dropped from some height and it pushed the filler cap down into the tank and it can’t be fixed. Can you steer me to someone that might have a gas tank for sale. Also, I need tank decals for a 1939 waterwitch with torpedo tanks. My decals came to a point in back all I can find have a round circle at the back and they tell me they from the 1940’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe

This is a 1937 Handitwin. I believe some of the later ones had the gas cap
              in the middle. Where’s yours?

I had luck once with a aluminum gas tank filler neck that was pushed down by
attaching a piece of pipe or rod to a fitting that screwed in or on the
filler hole, and gently using a torch to heat the area up while pulling
out the pushed down filler neck.
It wasn’t “perfect” , but a lot better.
Of course, torches and gas tanks can present a problem if all safety
                precautions aren’t followed!

My 1938 Handitwin has the fill in the center of the tank. My tank is steel.

The filler is in the middle of the tank. I need to find a new tank that’s not all rusted out. Any suggestions? I’ve already tried Doug Penn his are rusted. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Joe

Are you saying you have one for sale?

I only have the tank on my motor but you can clean a rusty tank…mine was bad so I filled it with vapo-rust over nite and kept the tank hot. After 24 hr soak i emptied the tank and put handful of 1/4-20 nuts in the tank with some parts cleaner and shook it around for a few minutes and drained and reflushed. It worked great. So if you found one go ahead and purchase it and clean it.
