Wards Recoil Pawls.

I see my recoil paws as attached by

a thin wire.  Is there a specific procedure and material to use to be most successful on a repair of this part of my motor.?  I have 74MG9021 Model.  Serial #117340.  Not sure HP of this motor.  It also has a variable propellor hub that I have not seen on the internet so far.  Looking for any help on these issues.

Well that prop is sure different than any adjustable pitch prop that I had ever seen. The usual adjustable prop the blades are movable to the hub, allowing the pitch to be changed, your blades are integral to the hub. My guess is that the entire hub is tilted on the shaft, there by effecting the blade angle to the line of the prop shaft. Try loosening the nut and see if the hub “wobbles” on the shaft.

Your prop it a Paul Bunyan Vari-Pitch from the Paul Bunyan bait co. Minneapolis, MN. They show up from time to time. Hunter sold this one on eBay last June for $30.00.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks for the help on my propellor, anyone got the decoder for my serial numbers ?

Model 74MG9021. Serial # 117340. Believe it’s a 1947 but not sure how to dissect the rest of it?
