Hey Guys, I have a Evinrude Sportster 72 model.I haven’t used in a long time.I gave it to my son and we have been trying to get it water ready.I can’t remember if water supposed to come out all the time or just when the thermostat opens.Welcome your thoughts on this. It is 25 hp. I put a impeller in it when I first got it and only used 4-5 times since then . Thanks !!

Should be seeing some water spitting out with the exhaust even with the thermostat closed. Once up to temp and the thermostat opens, you get a full flow.

The 25hp has two flow paths. Only one of them is thermostat controlled. Water flows through the other one all the time. You would have to be pretty sharp to detect the difference. So flow any time it is running is my answer.
