Pulled lower end off and found that the water tube that goes into the bottom of the motor has a hole in it.My question is can I pull the tube from the gromet on the bottom of the motor fix the tube and shove it back in.Thanks Russ..
I just finished a ’68 9.2.
If yours is ’60s, it’s similar.
I tried doing what you describe and it was too hard.
I went ahead and took the power head off.
It’s easier to remove the head than fight the tube up into it.
also, i believe there is an o-ring and washer up there at the top of the water tube.

I read a post on a different site and someone said that the hole was suppose to be there. The short time it was running the water discharge was intermitent. This is a 1966 6hp.Just wondering if it would be ok to fix the hole. Thanks for reply.
Are you seeing a drilled hole in the water tube, or are you seeing a hole that appears to be worn or rotted through the side? If a drilled hole, you better leave it alone. Various motors have a drilled hole in the water tube to provide a spray to cool the exhaust. It didn’t just miraculously drill a hole in itself.
