Can anyone tell me what horse power and model Evinrude this is
      at auction? (item #47)

The bungee cord on the shift lever might suggest it
      "jumps" out of gear 😮

        Buc,
This looks like about a ’53 Evinrude Fisherman 5.5hp to me. Not sure what to make of the bungee. 😕

It’s a 1954 Fleetwin – 7-½ horse power. The first Aquasonic. The 5 horse model was a Johnson that year.

Yep. What Garry said. 1954 – 55 Fleetwin.

I’m confused by the silverfish color, looks kind of original, maybe just the way the paint faded…
What’s up the screws holding the engine cowl in place?? I have never seen this on smaller Evinrudes, just the 15hp and larger models….
              Is this something someone added?

                Thanks for your replies.
Fleetwin, I see what you mean about the screws in the cowl.
This 54 on Ebay has "none".

Ya, I’ll go along with the 7.5 Fleetwin rather that 5.5 Fisherman. As far as the screws, I have a ’54 Fleetwin I bought at Tomahawk this year and it has the screws on the shift handle side too.

That looks like a Fleetwin I sold a couple years back. Not sure how it ended up in Washington. LOL

The subject motor at auction went for $19 and finally found it’s way
                        home today…… in my garage!
                        It’s a 1954 Evinrude Model 7516, serial 26442.

Wedgie, how does one tell if it’s made in Canada or not?
Mine does have the two screws holding down the starboard
                        side of the hood.

Will check compression tomorrow to see if I paid too much!
