What motor is this gear case for?

The green paint makes me think it may be from an Elgin? I’m not familiar with them but that might be my best guess. What do you think?

Looks like it for a small hp Elgin. Maybe 1.25 hp

No doubt about it, it’s a Elgin. It has a water pump, so it isn’t 1.25hp.

It is the sliding vane-type water pump, which makes it 1946-ish. I don’t recall off-hand when they went to a rubber impeller.
