      What motor are we re-wiring? 14GA sounds like overkill (?)

      EDIT: Here is a random diagram, The only place heavy wire is used on this one is for the generator output which is carried all the way up front to the ammeter and back.

        I like 14 awg and use it whenever I can. Electrical connections should always be crimped and soldered, Never just one or the other. Copper stranded wire (not tinned) will be fine, but you should also use waterproof shrink tube at the terminals. There is electrical flux that can be used with electrical rosin core wire. I never use it. If you plan on wiring any Mercury’s you should add blue to the list. I often buy 14-7 trailer wire when wiring boats.
