Hey folks, I’m getting ready to put my 1939 Johnson 5hp AT-39 away for the winter. I started using John Deere Cornhead Grease in the gear case as recommended, but I’d like to know what to do for winterizing the gear case. Do you just make sure the water is out and leave it be or do you clean out and replace all the grease? I only ran it about 10 hours this year as I got to restoring the motor pretty late in the season.

      Thanks for the advice.

I would drain any water then add the grease till it is clean and new.
