I was thinking "all" Johnson’s of this era were "green" in color,
but evidently not. Is this a different color than the later
burgundy Johnson of the late 50’s?

The 1952-1955 used what was called SeaHorse Green, 1946-1951 I believe used SeaMist Green, not even close to the same.. I think those years are correct.

So, is that outboard "NOT" a 1953?

If paint and decals are original it would be a ’58.

I was thinking it should have been "green" if it was a 1953, but
then I googled 1953 Johnson’s and seen photos of other burgundy
                and white Johnsons, lol.

It’s a ’58 model. Early Johnson JW’s had the pointy ears on the front of the motor.

Looks rough, but for $50, I’d go for it.

                      I would prefer mumbles Johnson – If I collected Johnsons . . . 😆

Really needs a bath, might not be too bad after cleaning up. No prop in the pictures and i hope the end of the prop shaft is not broken off. Jim
