        Wow!! That thing just screams 50’s! Love it.
        with luck there was enough lube residue in the gearcase to protect although it does need to be looked at.
        Good luck and keep us informed.

            The Flying Scott, from my sometimes dubious source, is a three-cyl first sold in ’58 as a 60-hp, morphing into a 75-hp in ’61. Looking at some parts list, it doesn’t seem that the lower unit or any part thereof interchanges with the smaller motors. They did produce that motor, probably basically unchanged, until ’69, when McC spit the bit. So the lower unit off any 60-or 75-hp would most likely work.

              That boat is awesome. What is the bottom painted with, the dark green portion. It looks like a vinyl covering, almost like the roof of an old car

                The original owner coated it with fiberglass.
                He also told me that 59′ and 60′ motor parts would work.
                I am searching for the lower end parts.
                I would like to find the scott tachometer that came in these years.
                He has a aftermarket one that works.
