Hello, I have a 56 Firestone 5 hp. I have it running smooth. Used Oddjob’s Tech Tip #1 to rebuild the coils. My problem is I have a good impeller, but I can’t get a water stream, only hot air. Any tricks to get water pump to work? Thanks

Where are you looking for the water stream ?

If you have the bail-a-matic option, you should have 2 impellers — one for the powerhead, the other for the bailer.

Are you testing in a tank ? — if so the water level for testing this engine should be just below the powerhead.

Looking for water from hole just under fins plate. Dont have bail-a-matic. Will try immersing foot deeper in water tomorrow. Thanks.

check the seals and pipe that goes between the lower unit and the pump cavity. THe seals should be in good condition.
Sometimes the pump casting gets corroded and distorts the stainless cup. The only fixes for this are to remove the cup and then the corrosion or replace the whole assembly.
