      Now I have identified it, I would like to know what you all recommend to clean the aluminum so I can polish it up. I have been using 100% lemon juice mixed with cream of tarter to form a paist. Also using a little salt for an abrasive. I am using a scowering sponge to clean it with. It has gotten the parts I have worked on very smooth, but still grey shadows throughout and grey between the raised letters.

        Phosphoric acid. Available fairly cheap in gallon containers from farm and fleet stores. Ask for "Milkstone Cleaner". Also available in small spray bottles for cleaning aluminum wheels. Just make sure it has phosphoric acid in it.

            I don’t have a picture of one of my A’s to post here, but there is a photo of my Auto City Red Top here on this website. Top right on the page in front of a wood wall. It runs and it’s still inside my house on display.
