While "The Twins" were in sick bay, we took out another modified motor.
This is the result of running 10 gals of fuel through.
better "clarity" of unburnt fuel on this one, at least no water.

      Bill.

Great looking rig. Hope you can solve the water intrusion problem on your one in sick bay. I remember back in the early 1960s our neighbor had that same Johnson 35. Yours looks better today than his did back then. Don’t know what type or how much oil he mixed with his fuel back then but whenever he started it up in the driveway it would fog our entire street.

          Bob,
Thanks for the kind words about the rig. The ’57 Johnson color scheme is a favorite of mine.

Your neighbor was probably using SAE-30 as per OMC recommendations of the day.
Modern TC-W3 seem much reduced in the "fogging" department, especially the synthetics.

            Beautiful Rig for sure!

That colour looks right…..Amazing how much you can recover isn’t it.

              Bill,

Yes, the ’57 and ’58 Johnson color schemes are also my favorites. You have a collection of great motors. Also like your recovery system – think of all the unburned fuel/oil that ended up in our lakes and rivers over the years.

I’m sure my neighbor did use the recommended SAE 30 oil but he must have used a mix ratio of like 10:1 or something – you wouldn’t believe the smoke he generated. I can remember one Saturday morning he had it running and his entire boat totally disappeared in a cloud of smoke. His 2-cycle lawn mower did the same. I remember him telling us one time that he liked that smoke because he knew his motor wouldn’t burn up!

Bob, maybe your neighbor had a bug problem in his yard? ha ha.

Well, we lived in Miami back then, so mosquitoes were usually a problem……

That one day, my dad ran over there to see if his rig had caught on fire.
