Trying to determine a reliable, low cost, small stature battery and
and charging system to running a buzz coil on my Wisconsin RBM.
Would this 6 volt, 4.5 amp, gel cell battery be up to the task?

      https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wildgame-Innov … 1598035883
Chargers for this battery are readily available and only $10 to $15 bucks.

I found some data (below) on a forum saying buzz coils draw about 2 amps.
I’m unsure about battery ratings, amps vs. amp hours, etc.
      Thanks for any insight.

      ===================================
      Gel cell battery
It depends on the load and size of the battery. How is ignition supplied? Auto coil, ford T coil, other vibratory coil? A T coil or other vibratory coil draws about 2 amps or so. An auto coil can draw as much as 10 amps! If you use a 6 amp or more Gel Cell, you probably can run a couple of days on one charge, if you do not run all day, continuously.

I use the same battery for my ELTOs. It will be plenty enough for you.

I decided to quit screwing around with these little batteries. Now, I use a full-sized 6-volt car battery for my rowboat motors and Elto’s, there’s never any doubt when I go to the ramp that I’ve got enough juice to get the job done, and I don’t really care how much it weighs either.

                Best,

I have had many years of trouble free running using a 6V 12AH rechargeable battery.
With all the hours I have put on my battery ignition rowboat motors I can honestly say that
I have never drained one down to the point of it not running the motor.
I may charge it one or twice during the season for nothing more than reassurance.

                    Respectfully,

From what I understand, the buzz coil will draw down the battery
slower than an automotive type coil, so not sure how they compare
to a Evinrude RBM with coil, etc.
I’ll wait until I get the battery, and build a box big enough for the
buzz coil, and now that you got me thinking, perhaps two batteries!
Not sure I’ll need a lanyard for my Wisconsin RBM though, but
a toggle switch would be nice.

                      I made a box with 2 battery’s where I can switch from
one to another. The only time I thought I was getting
low on juice was running a Speedster and that was after
about 3 hrs. of running on a 4 year old battery. When
you consider how many times a Speedster fires the coil
per minuet as compared to an RBM you shouldn’t’ have
a problem -BUT- I wouldn’t go out without a full gas can
                      and a back up battery.
