If you pull that thing out of the end of the timer, you will see that its the male part of a plug that goes into the recess in the timer lever, and fits onto two electrical terminals.

What you’re missing there is the Bakelite cap that covers the threads. You don’t need it to run, but you will need to connect two leads to the male section of that plug.

          Hope it helps

Thank you! You of course are correct it does pull out, but I am not clear on what it is supposed to connect to.

Is it a kill switch that just needs to be electrically connected?

just a connection point for the battery that powers the ignition. The ground button (kill switch if you will) immediately beside the battery connection interrupts the circuit and stops the motor when pressed.

You can add a kill switch in the loop closer to the battery if you wish. I have never bothered. I just disconnect the battery after using the ground button to shut her down.

The way it is now one 2 connector wire that comeing from the "coil" is wired into the battery leads.
There is another 2 connector wire from the coil with some tape on it that must go to the 2 leads on the timer lever, sound right?

been awhile since I’ve played with my Elto, so I had to go look at it again.

the wires that are dangling with bare ends are what should be connected to the timer plug.

                      Hope it helps.

                      BEst,
