I have a 1957 Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5hp that takes 16-1 fuel mix ratio and i also have a 1957 Evinrud Fastwin 18hp that takes 24-1 fuel mix ratio, my question is can i use 16-1 on my 1957 Evinrude Fastwin that is supposed to take 24-1? just don’t want to purchase another pressure tank fi not necessary but i also don’t want to harm the motor. Thanks

Yes you can use 16 to 1 in the 18 HP. Nobody ever ruined a motor by using extra oil. You may have to clean the spark plugs twice each season instead of once. It may actually prolong the life of the motor. With today’s TCW3 rated oil, I use 20 to 1 in 16 to 1 and 24 to 1 motors.

          Cesar,

That 18 won’t mind the 16:1 at all.
