Thanks Dave . I guess it’s just the lower unit casing . I don’t have the piece that is broken off to try and repair .
Still struggling to get that upper screw out of the gear case . Would it be ok to put some heat on it ? Are there any rubber parts inside that might melt If I did ?

When I took the drain plugs out of LU a little water came out .
Which seals would be the usual suspects for water leaks . A visual inspection looks like
2 seals . The small one where the shaft exits the hub and a large one that fits in the hub .
They both look pretty good shape from what I can tell ..

                  Reviving this thread ..
Life and COVID get in the way of everything..
I think I have all the parts /seals to put the unit back on that I got from Dave .. I noticed a groove worn into the shaft .. will this be a problem ? Or ok to run it like this ?

Is there a trick to removing the shaft seals ?

I guess I will have to try and find a replacement then .
The new seals are a little different than the originals The new ones are open in the back where you can see the little spring .When I put them in should I grease or lubricate them with something ?
