Hi Guys,
My father has a an older motor that he got in the 80’s but still runs like a charm, now I need to buy a thermostat and the water pump but I cannot find the model year. The plate is marked with J10RSLG and I could figure this much…J= Johnson
10 = Horse Power
RS= Rope Start
L=Long shaft
G=?Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
JavierPS: I also have the serial number.
September 21, 2018 at 11:26 pm #8333410RSLG-2 is a 1981 Commercial motor
10RSLC is a 1983 Commercial motor.So…does it have a -2?
Or…is it a "C" instead of "G" ? or something else?September 22, 2018 at 2:53 am #83345Remove the cowling and look at the top of the block for the 1" silver disc( welch plug). It may be easier to read the model # there than the transom clamp ID tag.

Robbie RobertsonSeptember 22, 2018 at 10:06 pm #83384Finding parts for less popular models is sometimes a problem. This commercial motor was not sold thru the USA dealer network so parts catalogs are very hard to find. Most likely these were sold originally in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. Thus this highlights another problem that OMC had in supporting motor owners. Yamaha still does the same thing with outboards. South America has two maybe three different versions sold.
September 23, 2018 at 12:59 am #83391I agree on the Commercial oddball issue. I would think the t stat and water pump parts would be the same as the regular 9.9 models? The Commercial model may have a different gearcase?

September 24, 2018 at 10:49 pm #83486Used a wall chart from Evinrude Johnson BuRP that is in our shop. This chart was sent to dealers about ten years ago. Newest model year listed 2008. Also listed in dealer book 766121 2011 Parts and accessories book showing up tp 2010 motors.
