Does anyone have a close-up picture showing how an MS magneto should be wired? The connections on the one I just bought are all soldered, which I’m not sure is correct. Also, the coil is very cracked and does not seem to work–is there an aftermarket source or does anyone in the club rebuild them? Thanks!

That’s the way they come. Coil and condenser are
soldered to the points. Not uncommon to loose
spark in these because the points are corroded from
sitting. You need to take the points apart and clean
them. If your careful (coil wire) it can be done without
unsoldering them. I don’t know of any later coil that
can be substitute for these however it is the same coil
found in the pre. WW-II Pal and Ranger. If you don’t
unsolder the wires don’t be moving that coil wire
        around too much.
