What can I substitute for the old hard tar like material used to insulate the coil and ignition wire connections from the magplate on my BN-25 and A-35?

Is there a specific name brand and heat tolerance you would recommend?

Any 100% silicone will work. It’s not a high temp area. Black will make it look authentic if that’s what your looking for.

I used black liquid insulation ‘tape’. It goes on thin, so multiple coatings. Then, just to be on the safe side I covered it with vinyl electrical tape.

Is the recommended silicone also an insulator, i.e., non-conductive?

100% silicone is a great insulator

Not as cheap as silly putty, but may be more fun.
